New Hong Kong-inspired menu brings authentic Cantonese flavors to Premium Economy and Economy Class passengers

Cathay Pacific is redefining the in-flight dining experience with an exciting new partnership with Yat Tung Heen, a Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant in Hong Kong. This collaboration introduces a thoughtfully crafted menu, designed to bring the rich and authentic flavors of Hong Kong to passengers traveling in Premium Economy and Economy Class on long-haul flights departing from Hong Kong, as well as select regional routes to mainland China, Japan, and Thailand.

A Taste of Hong Kong, Created by Culinary Masters

Led by renowned Executive Chef Tam Tung, Yat Tung Heen has been a cornerstone of Hong Kong’s culinary scene since 1990, celebrated for its refined take on traditional Cantonese cuisine. Together with Cathay Pacific’s culinary team, Chef Tam has curated an exclusive onboard menu, expanding the airline’s existing "Hong Kong Flavours" offering with a selection of premium dishes that highlight the depth and vibrancy of local ingredients and cooking techniques.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Yat Tung Heen, a true powerhouse in Hong Kong’s culinary world, to elevate our onboard dining experience,” said Vivian Lo, Cathay Pacific’s General Manager of Customer Experience and Design. “This is our first partnership with a Michelin-starred restaurant for our Premium Economy and Economy cabins, and we’re excited to offer our customers a taste of Hong Kong’s iconic flavors, brought to life by the exceptional culinary artistry of Chef Tam and his team.”
Chef Tam himself expressed excitement about the partnership: "At Yat Tung Heen, we’ve always strived to deliver Michelin-worthy experiences using the finest ingredients. Passengers traveling in Premium Economy can expect a thoughtfully designed menu that starts with Smoked Duck Breast with Pickled Mustard Greens and Galangal, inspired by Chiu Chow-style braised duck. This dish balances the richness of tender duck slices with the tangy sweetness of pickled vegetables for a refreshing start to the meal.

For the main course, passengers can savor Cantonese comfort food classics like Braised Beef and Tendon with Chu Hou Sauce, Choy Sum, and Steamed Jasmine Rice, featuring succulent beef simmered in an aromatic fermented soybean-based sauce.

Seafood lovers will enjoy the Stir-Fried Seafood with Jade Melon and XO Sauce, accompanied by egg-fried rice — a vibrant dish bursting with wok-fried seafood flavors complemented by the savory umami of XO sauce.

Another highlight is the Crispy Halibut with Supreme Soy Sauce, Braised Bamboo Pith with Baby Choy Sum, and Egg Fried Rice, where the fish’s delicate sweetness is enhanced by a rich soy sauce glaze, creating a perfect harmony of flavors.

Main course options include:

  • Oven-Baked Chicken with Aromatic Ginger and Aged Tangerine Peel, Kai Lan, and Egg Fried Rice — a tribute to a Yat Tung Heen favorite, featuring marinated boneless chicken infused with zesty ginger and aged tangerine peel for a unique, sweet-spicy aroma.
  • Sweet and Sour Pork with Fresh Pineapple, Mixed Vegetables, and Steamed Jasmine Rice — a beloved Cantonese staple, showcasing crispy fried pork glazed in a vibrant, tangy-sweet sauce with fresh pineapple and colorful bell peppers.
  • Braised Duck with Taro and Pickled Plum Sauce, Garlic Broccoli, Cauliflower, and Steamed Jasmine Rice — a comforting, hearty dish combining tender braised duck with a piquant plum sauce, taro’s subtle earthiness, and stir-fried vegetables.
