Singapore’s iconic rooftop brewery sets a new global standard at 149.32 meters, blending craft beer, breathtaking views, and eco-conscious innovation.
In a sky-high celebration, LeVeL33 has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records™ as the Highest Microbrewery in a Building, soaring 149.32 meters above Singapore’s Marina Bay Financial Centre. This groundbreaking achievement cements LeVeL33’s place not only in the skyline but also on the global stage as a pioneer in urban brewing and sustainable dining.
From Bold Vision to Record-Breaking Reality
Founded in 2010 by visionary entrepreneur Dr. Martin Bém, LeVeL33 was built on the daring idea of merging old-world brewing traditions with a sleek, modern setting high above the city. The goal? To deliver freshly brewed craft beer alongside a world-class dining experience — all while overlooking Singapore’s stunning skyline.
What started as a “crazy idea” quickly became a success. Nearly 15 years later, LeVeL33 remains a one-of-a-kind destination, blending premium craft beer, gastronomy, and eco-conscious innovation into a single, elevated experience.
“We are thrilled to be recognised by Guinness World Records™ just ahead of our 15th anniversary,” says Dr. Bém. “We see this as an important achievement for LeVeL33 as well as an opportunity to showcase the Singapore story of odds-defying innovation, record-breaking growth, and unique, world-class sustainable experiences.”
Engineering a Brewery in the Sky
Building a microbrewery 33 floors up wasn’t just ambitious — it was an engineering marvel. Back in 2010, after a 10,000 km journey from Europe, LeVeL33’s brewing equipment — weighing over 8,000 kg — was carefully hoisted to the top of Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 1. The setup included 12 massive tanks, two copper brewhouse kettles, and an industrial-grade cooling system.
The installation required intricate precision, expert craftsmanship, and innovative problem-solving to seamlessly integrate a fully operational brewery into a high-rise environment — all while preserving traditional brewing techniques.
Syahzan Kudus, CEO of Raffles Quay Asset Management — which oversees Marina Bay Financial Centre — praised LeVeL33’s journey:
“We are proud to have been strong partners with LeVeL33 throughout its
journey from a dream to a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDSTM holder. LeVeL33 has questioned convention and broken boundaries of what is possible, delivering an unparalleled experience right in Singapore’s Central Business District. The team’s commitment to service and innovation aligns perfectly with those of RQAM, and we celebrate this remarkable achievement with them.”
Sustainable Brewing with a View
Beyond the impressive heights and record-breaking status, LeVeL33 has also become a leader in sustainability. From reducing carbon emissions through on-site brewing to minimizing packaging waste, the brewery remains committed to eco-conscious practices — setting an example for the global food and beverage industry.
